EDGE OF DARKNESS Movie Review. BEWARE! There're SECRETS lurking in the DARK.

MOVIE PREVIEW

EDGE of DARKNESS is one taut, gripping thriller.

It’s dark and potently powerful …..

The mood and tone can be brooding, despairing, devastating …..

So much so that, throughout the entire movie, it puts you on edge with your own emotions and plays with your suspension of disbelief.

Some scenes you will be subjectively “drawn” into the big picture so that you can almost “feel” the rage and pain that our hero is being put through, losing a loved one.

A single father doted on his attractive 24-year old daughter and soon realized that he could not fathom his own blood and kin ….

Was she really the sprightly sensible daughter as she portrayed?

His world was inexplicably torn apart when she was suddenly assassinated just right outside his doorstep.

The questions set in ….

Was he actually the intended victim?

What was the motive for the senseless murder?

EDGE OF DARKNESS is an adrenaline-charged film steep in darkness and slick in suspense.

Unravel the mystery and you’ll find that there’s more to meet the eye than apparent situations,

We are looking at espionage and government sanctioned murders directly in the face ….

There’s this stone-faced secret government operative Dariius Jedburgh (RAY WINSTONE) who was dead bent on cleaning up every remaining evidence of whatever that had taken place and hell betide those who stood in his way ….

MEL GIBSON played Thomas Craven, a relentless homicide detective from the Boston Police Department who was devil-may-care when he sought revenge for his daughter’s killing,

He entered a world of chaotic darkness where government collusion and corporate cover-ups embroiled.

So his daughter was involved with an activist group, eager to expose the misdeeds of an energy corporation that had sinister ties linked to the US government?

The issue of high level corruption involving nuclear weapons can deem this as a political thriller albeit an action revenge flick …..

I’d say that EDGE OF DARKNESS is a mesmerizing power-punch of a thriller.

It’s a 2010 film adaptation of an award winning 1985 BBC mini series of the same name.

It’s great to watch MEL GIBSON in action again as it’s his first acting role in seven years.

MEL has revealed that, since turning 50, he’d be more discerning about the type of roles he plays.

Directed by MARTIN CAMPBELL (Casino Royale) you won’t be disappointed, for sure.

Go judge for yourself.
